DANM

Psychological Thriller/ Horror
Feature Film by Teneille Newallo

Logline

Trapped in a post-colonial estate in Trinidad, a tormented mother is pursued by a vengeful demoness with insidious ties to her secret family history.

Synopsis

A tormented mother journeys into a historically mysterious, former slave plantation in Trinidad—now a museum—in search of her family’s history. What begins as a quest for answers soon takes a darker turn. Trapped within the estate, she is plagued by unnerving events that force her to question her own mind and the intentions of those also trapped in the house. Haunted by memories of a tragic incident and driven by the need to reunite with her estranged son, she must face her own demons before the demoness of the house takes her.

About the Film
At its heart, Danm is a psychological horror about a mother’s relentless love and grief. The film reimagines the Caribbean legend of La Diablesse—a seductive, cursed spirit who lures the unwary—placing her within the shadows of Trinidad’s colonial past. By blending folklore with history, the story offers a haunting and deeply emotional twist on a figure rarely seen in world cinema.
